Prologue to the Overview of One Bright World’s Trip to Liberia in May 2008.

One Bright World, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization formally incorporated on April 25, 2006 and has an approved 501(C3) status. The mission of One Bright World, Inc. is to provide educational opportunities to children of all ages, especially in locations where the educational infrastructure is lacking or diminished, whether due to internal strife and/or impoverished economic resources. After much consideration, it was decided to establish the first educational center in a rural area in the Republic of Liberia

On May 12, 2008 a delegation of One Bright World, Inc. board members – Mrs. Fay Malouf Vassilakis, President and Founder, Dr. Serena Deutsch, Dr. Barbara Kobrin, and Mrs. Susan Beer – traveled to Liberia to research and prepare for the establishment of the educational center in Kakata, Margibi County, Liberia. They were accompanied by professional photographer, Adam Kobrin, who documented their visit with striking and beautiful photographs. To date, much work has been done by One Bright World as the registration of One Bright World, Inc. as a Liberian NGO was nearing completion; the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Margibi County and One Bright World for the long term lease, at no cost, of 100 acres of land for a period of 60 years is also nearing completion.

With the blessings and support of Liberian president, Her Excellency, Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the delegation spent five days touring the land, other educational institutes, medical facilities, and an orphanage. In addition to a personal reception by President Sirleaf, the delegation met many government ministers and leaders. They also met and interviewed many of the welcoming people and children of Margibi County.

The delegates were visibly moved and inspired by their visit and their interaction with the leadership and citizens of Liberia. Their commitment to establishing the educational center was enhanced, and their dedication to achieving One Bright World’s goal was vastly reinforced.

On the pages following, you will read the personal testimony of the One Bright World, Inc. delegation’s trip to Liberia. Along with the itinerary, the travelogue is accompanied by the moving photos of Adam Kobrin.

The presentation marked the occasion of her reception of the delegation from One Bright World in May 2008; the delegation was there to research and prepare for the future establishment of an educational center by One Bright World, Inc, for children in Kakata, Margibi County, Liberia. Everyone who received the clocks were excited and extremely touched to be the recipient of these Waterford crystal clocks, from one of the most famous and respected crystal producing companies in the world.
